Blisters

Blister packs, or blisters, are a low-cost, aesthetically pleasing packaging option made up of a plastic front attached to a backing of another material, usually cardstock. Blisters provide a clear view of the product while keeping it securely in place, making them particularly useful for consumer goods. As such, blisters are often used for packaging smaller items such as batteries, medicines, and other consumer products.

Similarly to clamshells, blister packs are a lightweight packaging option, making them easier and more cost-effective to ship. They also provide durable storage and protection by securing goods in place to minimize movement and potential damage. The plastic used for the front of blister packs provides visibility of the products inside, which is advantageous for several reasons. For example, being able to see the actual product versus an image reassures the consumer that what is contained inside is as advertised—without the need to open the packaging or touch the product. Additionally, blister packs offer tamper-evident features, ensuring the integrity of the product before purchase.
