Elmes Packaging and Sustainability

Sustainability in business and manufacturing has never been more important. As a producer of plastic packaging, we understand there is a growing concern with plastic waste. At Elmes Packaging, we believe it is our obligation to incorporate sustainable practices across our operations and processes to reduce our carbon footprint, combat climate change, and be a leader within the industry. We commit to applying all best practices and evolving our green initiatives to advance environmental responsibility.

Our Initiatives

At Elmes Packaging, almost all of our thermoformed products are made with PET, the most recyclable plastic in the world. PET offers a number of advantages when compared to alternatives. It requires less energy to manufacture, is lightweight, and provides excellent protection for the products contained within. This contributes to a more efficient supply chain since it lowers fuel use compared to heavier options, and reduces waste resulting from damaged and discarded items. In addition, the PET we use is at minimum 50% recycled.

Our goal is to keep waste out of landfills. To do so, we use Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) material which is plastic that is recycled and repurposed into a resin that is used to make new packaging. Leveraging PCR protects the environment since new plastics are generally processed from fossil fuels. Not only do we use PCR material, we recycle unused plastic from our packaging into new products. This creates a system where materials are continuously reused, lowering emissions and reducing waste.
